If you love makeup, then stains are bound to happen. And when it does happen, you’re wondering how you can remove the stain without making it worse. There’s nothing more embarrassing than having a makeup stain at work or on vacation. What’s even worse is trying to remove a stain that only gets bigger.

But what can you do you when nothing seems to be working? What are some of the best methods for removing stains that don’t involve a trip to the dry cleaner? Some of your favorite everyday products make for great makeup removers. Here are some great ways of removing makeup stains from your clothes.

Makeup Wipes

Makeup wipes don’t just remove the makeup on your face. They can also remove the makeup from your clothes. It’s a no-brainer since they have the ingredients you need for makeup stain removal. This trick is commonly used backstage at runway shows when makeup artists get makeup on the models’ clothes while they’re in a rush to get them on the runway. It’s an old trick that works.
Take one makeup wipe and pat or blot the area until the makeup stain is gone. This trick only works on fresh makeup stains that haven’t much time to dry or set. Makeup wipes work perfectly on natural fabrics like cotton. Think of it as a magic eraser for your clothing.

Heat it Up

If you ever dropped mineral powder on your blouse, you can remove it with a blow dryer. This is especially the case if you dropped highlighter or illuminator on a dark fabric. Since wiping it away will result in a bigger mess, a blow dryer can blow it away. One blast of the loose powder and it’s gone for good.

Cool it Down Instead

Ice is another effective way to remove makeup from your clothes. Get an ice cube and gently rub it on the stain. Cold water or ice water are both effective at removing stains. Contrary to popular belief, hot water can cause the stain to stick and spread, but cold water can work in a pinch when treating a tiny makeup stain. Use the cold water when you throw your clothes in the washing machine.

Detergent Pens & Detergent Wipes

Detergent pens and wipes are great for treating stains on the go. These are a must when you’re at work or traveling. Detergent pens remove makeup stains in a pinch. Make sure to blot the area of the stain before applying the pen. Take your time with the detergent pen, as the solution will spill out onto the stain. Gently rub the tip until the stain wears out. Remove the extra solution.  detergent pens are safe for most types of fabrics including those that say “dry clean only.” In addition, detergent wipes are also great for everyday use. They work in the same manner as detergent pens, except the wipes are soaked in detergent. They’re great to keep in your office or car whenever you need a quick fix for removing liquid foundation, lipstick, or nail polish.

Soap & Water

Soap and water is a classic trick for fresh makeup stain removal. If that’s all you have, then you can still get the stain out. Using cold water, dispense a small amount of soap onto the stain. Rub the fabric together and use the friction to remove the stain. This is better than using a paper towel or napkin that can smear the stain with its white residue, set the stain in and make it look even bigger.
